Guide to Perspective Buyers

Guide for Prospective Buyers

1. Bidding
Bidding at the Butterfly Ball Auction is by number only. Bid numbers will be issued upon registration at the auction. This number should be used when bidding on both the silent and live auction swans.

During the live auction, the butterflies will initially be auctioned as “high-bidder’s choice” which will be continued at the discretion of the auctioneer. If you are a successful bidder in the live auction, the auctioneer will announce your number and final price. You will be able to settle your account within 30 minutes for the full purchase price.

Silent Auction bids will be closed at 7:30. Silent auction butterflies are available for a guaranteed bid of $750.00. If you have made a silent auction bid, please check with cashier prior to leaving to determine if you were the successful bidder.

2. Payment
Payment of cash or personal check will be accepted. Checks should be made payable to Kaleidoscope, Inc. Visa or MasterCard may also be used to make payment and your card will be charged on the day of the sale.

3. Charitable Contributions
The fair market value of the artwork is $2,000 for a Live Auction Butterfly, and $70 for a Silent Auction Butterfly. Any amount over that will be deemed a charitable contribution and will be reported as such. The proceeds from the sale of each butterfly will be split 50/50 between Kaleidoscope, Butterflies in Flight and the charity designated by the original butterfly sponsor.

4. Conditions of Sale
Each Silent or Live Auction Butterfly is sold on an “as is” basis. We encourage all prospective buyers to evaluate the condition of each butterfly prior to bidding. Buyers are reminded that the butterflies have been on display and have been transported throughout the exhibition and may exhibit signs of wear. Sales price includes the cement base but the butterfly is not permanently attached to the base and may be displayed without it.

There is no guarantee of any kind, express or implied, as to the condition, durability or quality of any artwork sold in this sale. The artwork is not meant to withstand extreme weather conditions and should be kept under cover and inside during extreme conditions.

Title and risk of loss pass to the purchaser at the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer, at which time purchaser shall be responsible for the purchased artwork. Insurance coverage is the responsibility of the purchaser when title passes.

5. Removal of Property
Butterflies purchased in the silent auction must be removed by the purchaser the evening of the auction.

The large Butterflies will be removed from the auction site and taken to the Tiger Town Hangar. It is the responsibility of each purchaser to make arrangements to have the Butterfly delivered or picked up from the hangar. All Butterflies must be removed by May 11, 2007.

Local delivery is available for a fee of $100.00 for the butterfly only and $300 for the butterfly and a cement base poured on site. Browning Moving & Storage Inc. (United Van Lines) is available for transportation outside our local area (863-683-6494).
